Jeff Nielsen

Jeff is a sanctions, export and import controls legal counsel with over 20 years expertise advising multiple sectors. He has developed his expertise in both law firms and in-house and with both U.S. and European buisness across diverse sectors, and includes recent expereince in one of the world's largest shipping and transport companies and Scandinavia's largest bank. He also brings several years' experience as a foreign policy advisor in the United States House of Representatives.

Jeff has deep expertise in both United States and European Union sanctions, export controls and import regulation. His focus is in managing and mitigating complex risk amid legal and geopolitical change.

Specifically, Jeff's work includes internal investigations and remediation arising out of regulatory violations and enforcement actions, advising on contractual and related issues in both routine customer and vendor relations and complex transactions and relationships (including M&A and joint venture), compliance program construction and management, training, regulatory licensing and financial institution-business interaction.

Jeff takes a collaborative, practical approach to his work. He believes that, though sanctions and export controls are complex, effective and efficient solutions are built on deep understanding of a client's risk profile and building common sense sanctions and export controls solutions that clients can easily apply day-to-day to mitigate such risks.
